Description
Descended from Italians, Marcos Pandolfi is a luthier from João Neiva, the interior of Espírito Santo. His primary studies began in 2004 under the direction of Tulio Lima and Renato Casara, for whom he also worked. In 2006, he also began working at the Escola de Liuteria Trabalharte. He has participated in several projects and conferences sponsored by the Preservarte institute in João Neiva, and has a studio near the town center there.
This particular viola has a distinct Brescian influence, but follows more contemporary stylings after Giovanni Paolo Maggini, perhaps the most important pupil of Gasparo Da Salo; featuring a rather rich and highly translucent yellow varnish and a deep tenor voice.
Both the upper bouts and the string length are quite modest for a 16 3/4” viola; a prime candidate for its size and price range. Equipped with a Kaplan “A,” Vision “D,” and “G,” and Spirocore “C.”
