Looptrotter SATurAMP – 1-Channel Preamp

SATurAMPisone ofakind microphone /instrument preamplifier, equipped with anoriginal saturation unit inrack 500 format. Due tothis unique combination SATurAMP isauniversal and creative tool, allowing the powerful sound, with great detail preservation, just while recording.

Not only incorporatesSATurAMPsolutions inspired bydesigns from the 60s, but also many original, modern ones, including digital control over the majority offunctions. This particular solution allowed toeliminate the mechanic switches from the signal path, what considerably influenced the reliability and endurance ofSATurAMP. The mechanic elements were replaced with hermetic relays and semiconductor switches.

On input inSATurAMPthere isaSOWTER transformer based onthe AP2620, found inlegendary API preamps. The operating amplifier, build entirely ofdiscrete elements, isresponsible for amplification. Design refers toearly operating amps from the 60s. However the solution ofgain regulation comes from XXI century –it’s digitally controlled via micro buttons. The amplification value, expressed indB, isshown ondigital display.

SATurAMPisequipped with high-pass filter with aslope of12db per octave. There are three options ofcut-off frequency, with three different characteristics:

• 60Hz – Chebychev
• 100Hz – Butterworth
• 160Hz – Bessel

The core ofSATurAMPis originally designed saturation unit, known from Looptrotter SA2RATE, inspired bythe sound ofold tape recorders and analog consoles. Itsmoothes signal peaks, inintelligent and ear friendly way, adding low order harmonics. The saturation works like asoft limiter, making itpossible torecord tracks with high level ofRMS signal, without the unwelcome distortion, sounding near, detailed, saturated and perfectly “sitting” inthe mix. The instrumental input isbased ondiscrete transistors, operating inclass A.The appliance ofFET transistor enabled the design ofaunit, that enriches the signal with small amount ofeven, harmonic frequencies, positively affecting the sound ofinstruments plugged directly toSATurAMP. This refers not only toguitars and basses. SATurAMP works stunningly with digital synthesizers, adding this warm, analog touch. The signal path ofSATurAMP isminimalistic, and applied elements are carefully selected with regard tooriginal sound character signed with Looptrotter. SATurAMP represents the highest quality sound combined with original, analog touch. The SATurAMP is100% original design and has noequivalents either analog ordigital.
