About the Soundpost

The violin’s soundpost is a small, carefully fitted spruce dowel positioned inside the instrument to enhance sound. Installation Tips

• Ensure the end grain of the soundpost runs perpendicular to the violin’s top grain for proper fit and sound.
• Always cut the soundpost slightly longer than needed to allow for fine adjustments.
• Longer posts are placed closer to the center, favoring deeper, darker tones, while shorter posts are closer to the E string f-hole side, favoring brighter tones.
• Moving the soundpost closer to the bridge increases power, while moving it farther adds richness but reduces power.
• Be mindful of tightness: a post set too tightly can choke the violin, while a loose post may lack tone quality and risk falling.
