A.R. Bultitude (1908–1990) was a distinguished English bow maker celebrated for his exceptional craftsmanship and deep understanding of string players’ needs. He trained under William Retford at W.E. Hill & Sons, where he honed his skills in traditional English bow making. After leaving Hill & Sons, Bultitude established his own workshop, creating bows known for their balance, responsiveness, and refined elegance. His work is prized for its blend of classic design with subtle personal touches, making his bows highly valued by both musicians and collectors.
